Tatula CT is rock solid.  The Magforce braking system is incredibly easy to set and go .

  • Save some money and buy a standard SLX .

  • There are reels in very good condition that sold for over $350-$500 new available in the Flea Market very close to the OP’s budget. Tom

Tackle Warehouse on December 18th. It will be under $100 and free shipping.

Save up $30 more and get the Daiwa Tatula 150

He probably doesn't wanna be upsold, he probably wants to have his original question answered.

Can you describe what a low inertia spool is and why its good? Ive never heard about one before.

In simple terms, a lower moment of inertia means you can exert less force and get the same distance as a higher moment of inertia spool. Think Ferrari 488 vs. an old school, cross plane V8.

To answer the question on the post, you can't go wrong with either reel. Shimano makes a better reel, in my opinion. I feel like this is casting distance vs. feel. From my experience, the TW system and braking system in the Daiwa gives it an advantage when casting, but Shimano typically makes a smoother, more quality reel. This is my experience with a Curado 200K and Tatula 150, though. Take that with a grain of salt. I have no experience with either the CT or SLX.

when you guys are referring the tatula ct100  i have the daiwa Tatule ct 100hs is this the same reel

Same reel - different speeds

The CT comes in 6.3:1 (CT-H), 7.3:1 (CT-HS) and 8.1:1 (CT-XS)

i have this ct100hs nice reel, after a season of fishing with my 3 bait casters, i feel the lew's tournament mp is smoother, and what really surprised me was the Piscifun Phantom, nicer ergos and casting lures has an edge over the lews and the daiwa, just my thoughts. i need one more reel, going to give the slx xt a shot

You clearly didn't read his question,  he asked for other suggestions.

Can you do $140?

I know you don't want 2 reels, but you could save one for later or sell the second.  I have 2 of these in left hand.  They are 2 of the 3 reels I used to learn to cast #5 Shad Raps.  Dual braking.  Super reels for the money.

Been having fun looking in the Flea Market.  :D
