Fisher Jon boat

Featured Replies

Came across a ad locally for a ‘87 15’ Fisher Jon Boat . Appears just from pictures to be in good condition. Comes with a 8 horse Yamaha he had some

work done too.. he has title for trailer and boat. He’s asking 2k.. obviously it’s older and see a lot of different takes on these boats.  I’m not jumping on anything just looking for some opinions.. I’m quite content with my Yak for now.

Unless that motor is relatively new, with no other info, I think it's priced high.

I have to ask the guy more,  it’s around 10 years old . “Says” 40 hours on motor and carb rebuilt in 2016 .. like I said just curious.. it’s not more than 30 minutes from me to go check out should I want too.
Thanks

fwiw, be cautious of the used motor ‘with a little work done on it’ part. i got burned about 10 years ago by a little old man with a jon boat who only fished on the weekends. it could end up costing you more than the boat is worth in the long run. good luck brother.

I've owned various sized Yamaha outboards all my life. They're inherently good engines. Most older outboards end up with some carb work done due to inactivity allowing the gas to evaporate and leave deposits in the bowl that stop the jets up. This is a common occurrence.

That 8 horse is a great little OB and tough as nails.

I will say that with used stuff you really never know what you're getting until you've had it long enough to prove it.
