Advice on a 2012 Skeeter FX200

Featured Replies

I'm considering buying a 2012 Skeeter FX200 with  a  2012 Yamaha 200hp Vmax 4 Stroke.  The boat is in excellent condition. I'm really  looking for opinions on the hull. I don't have any experience/knowledge with Skeeter. Thanks

I've had practically every brand of bass boat made from Terry Bass, Lowe, Hydrosport, Ranger, Storm and a couple of Skeeters.  Skeeters are quality boats.  There is no wood in the hull.  I consider them a best buy for the money.  Yamaha engines are great.  The only drawback is service as there aren't as many Yamaha dealers as Mercs.  The good news is you won't need much service when you own a Yamaha.   I bought a new Skeeter bass boat in 2000.  I guided and tournament fished with that boat for ten years.  When I sold it, the boat had it's original gray carpet, the hull still shined and the engine ran like new.  The man I sold it to is still fishing out of it.

I'm a little bias but  Skeeter's are great boats. They ride great and have no wood to rot. Yamaha outboards are very reliable with great performance. I would take the boat to a marine mechanic and have the outboard checked. Good luck with your decision and enjoy your new ride...

Ask the seller to water test the boat to ensure there are no leaks, all the pumps and everything function correctly, and the engine runs correctly.
