Starting to mod 14ft v-hull

Featured Replies

I've got my plans on how to start decking my v-hull. I'm starting just with the floor. I'm going to use 1/2 " plywood and 2 x 2. Does this sound ok or should I use 1 x 1 sq aluminum to make it lighter.

I would use aluminum the cost will be more but, it will it lighter and if you keep the boat for a while you won't need to worry about it rotting out in a few years. What I do when I built a boat is I coat all the wood I put in it with a waterproofing material you can get it at most Home Depots go in the flooring section and pick up a bucket of C-Cure Water proofing membrane it goes on pink and dries red. When dry it turns into almost plastic material, water can't find it's way in. Just make sure you put 3 coats on. Let us know how it goes.
