Looking to match new Megabass Levante rod with a reel

Featured Replies

Picking up a new Levante shakeyhead rod.  Looking for a spinning reel with some green in it to match it.

Any suggestions?

Shimano Exsence 3000 or Stradic FL, Daiwa Certate, Tatula, or Kage. Put some green line on it and call it a day. JMHO.

Definitely green line :D  thanks for the suggestions!

I think that if you put a Tatula or Kage on there, you'll be very happy with it, and it will be lightweight and a great looking rig to boot.

I see one of the asian sites has a Tatula LT 2000S-XH (shallow spool with high speed gearing), which I am a fan of. You could put plenty of 10 lb, 12 lb, or even 15 lb braid on there, but not so much as to be wasteful. That's probably the direction I would go for a rod like that.

How much are looking to spend?  Are you looking for a light weight reel more for finesse?  Are you going to use it for more than just a shakeyhead rod?

More then just a shakeyhead reel for sure.  All purpose... And would like to spend less then 200

EVERYTHING has been sold out for sooo long.... This is getting frustrating... I decided going for Tatula 3000 CXH and now I can't even find one of those on sale.  I have less then a month until I "NEED" it.

Any other suggestions out there?

I would look at the Ultegra by shimano. It’s priced at $150 for a 2500 size and can be preordered at Tackle Warehouse.  It’s a solid reel and would pair well with the shakeyhead although it is not green at all. It says it should ship March 31st if you are willing to wait that long. I feel the reel buying struggle right now I am looking for a reel for my destroyer and it is tough finding reels in stock!

I have seen that one too. The reason I was going with the Tatula/Vanford was for its weight.  The simple black Tatula will match anything was what pushed it for the win but at $200 everywhere and backordered- I see no sales in sight!

It’s about $30 above your price but the new Shimano Vanford is a really nice reel.  I haven’t found anything that I don’t like about it.

I have the new Levante shaky head rod paired with a Vanford 2500.  Very nice combo, super light.  Stradic Ci4+ is another option, but i'd go with the Vanford if you can afford it.

Do you have a picture of it by any chance?

TIA
