Summer is coming and i'm getting a nice size income tax check, so I'm thinking of getting a couple new rigs. For the first one I was thinking of a Stradic for maybe ultra light or smaller plastics, jigs and such. What size would be good for this? Also, can you reccomend a good pole to go with this reel for my purposes?

 

I already have a baitcast rig in mind - Daiwa Tatula SV TW 6:3 paired with a 7' 3" Daiwa Arid X rod.

What do you mean by ultra light? What's your budget? 

 

Can you be more specific on what you intend to throw? What do you mean jigs? Ned rigs? Or small finesse jigs? Then I could give a better recommendation.

Senkos, ned rigs, small crankbaits. I thought a size 2500 Stradic might cover it. They do have a smaller 1000 size but I'm thinking that might be too small.

My setups for Ned rigs are 1000 and 2000 size Shimanos with medium light rods and 6# line.   I find Senko type baits to be too heavy for these setups so I use 2500s and medium rods for them.

2500 size reel will be just fine for all those techniques.  That is the only size spinning reels I buy.

Hey i have a couple questions

what would be a good inexpensive salwater/freshwater baitcasting combo and, would medium heavy/fast action be good for jigs and crankbaits?

 

also what is a inexspensive fly fishing kit i can take in the salt and fresh (when i say salt i mean mainly inshore and a little bit of beach fishing)

I think you would get more answers if you started a new thread...or two.  I believe a MHF would suffice if you use the drag correctly.  I would stay away from braid on a MHF for crankbaits.  Personally I used a MF with crankbaits for quite awhile before buying a dedicated crankbait rod.  (Mono or co-polymer lines.)  You might consider a MH-Med.Fast or Regular action.  Swing a bit harder on the jig hooksets.  More rod give with the trebles.  Can't help with fly rod suggestions.  There are a few on here that could.  There are also some fly fishing forums where guys would give you a ton of options.

 

OP.  Any reel size is fine that you like.  Many prefer the 2500 size.  Some prefer larger.  Some smaller.  Darren prefers 1000 size for bass.  Read an article by a professional that preferred 4000 size for line handling reasons.  Rod options are many.
