Sufix 131 G-Core Braid

Featured Replies

I know it's not available to the public as of yet. Has anyone been able to try it via a vendor sample or does anyone have any more info about it. I'm wondering if the 13 fibers really warrant the price increase.

I'm fine with my 4 and 8 strand braids. I love the 8x j braid to be honest, for the price I dont think it can be beat.

Looks like the advertising copies the blurbs that Berkely used for Fireline Ultra 8. Diameters are somewhat different, though. Like @DomQ, I'm not excited.         jj

I was in cabelas today for hooks and things and saw it there, they had 6lb and 10lb g-core 131 in stock for 29.99 for 150yds so I bought one to try later out after I burn through enough yds of my sufix 832 I all ready have spooled on. I can update this thread mid summer to how it holds up if you have not all ready tried it yet.

I've had a spool of the 0.8pe 131 on a reel for a year now and have nothing bad to say about it, except that I don't think it's significantly better than a good 8 strand.

832 was always very-well-behaved braid.

The odd thing is they didn't go up in strength, and the price is steep for 150 yds.

E.g. YGK X-braid is 200 m (220 yds) for just a little less, and their 0.006" diameter, also coated, is 14-lb test vs. 6-lb for either Sufix grade.
