Featured Replies

Most of my rods are spinning, planning to slowly get some baitcasting stuff and i saw this combo from Abu Garcia on BPS MLF can't see to much info on the internet about that anybody has it or had experience with it?

Looked it over - based on the stats, the reel looks to be a 'jazzed up' Black Max and the rod somewhere between a Vengence and Vendetta.

I'd look elsewhere - this is just a marketing thing..."Oh look, a MLF labeled combo...neat."

Meh.

It is about what one would expect from a $100.00 combo.

In over 45 years of fishing I have never seen a quality baitcasting "combo".

I was at Cabelas today.  there were rows of baitcasting combos. Including the MLF combos. I did not see one I would even consider purchasing.

If a rod and reel are only sold as combos, my advice is walk away.

Nearly all companies take a low quality reel put it on a cheap rod and give it a flashy name.

You are better off buying a decent rod and reel separately.

Bass Pro and Cabelas should have their spring fishing sale within the next few weeks.

I bought some green Curado BPS Extreme combos a long time ago that were killer for the money.

The Wally World special "Blue Max" combo is a heck of a deal for $68.  It's an excellent caster too.

Check out a site online that I cant type on here without it getting censored for some reason. They sell the Shimano SLX rod and reel as a combo where you can pick which reel ratio and which rod. Big selection of length, action, power. They give you a discount for bundling them together.
