Lews KVD fishing reels.

Featured Replies

I saw an add today for the above mentioned reel. I thought Quantum made all of KVD spinning reels? Could someone please tell me what's going on?

Lews and Strike King merged. So I think he went over to Lews due to that. They came out in the fall and have good reviews.

I've seen great reviews on both his now rods and reels. I was actually thinking of picking up on of each tomorrow.

Koz,

Thank you. for that information. I don't think you could go wrong by purchasing a rod and reel with his name. Please take care and have a wonderful and safe Sunday. Also, If you make your purchase early enough tomorrow, maybe you can try your new rod and reel out. Hope you catch lots.

He's with Lew's now.

I have 2 of the casting reels and 1 of the spinning reels. The casting reels are really good. After having been out with the spinning reel twice now, it's straight trash tough.

Did you mean "straight (to the) trash though", or was what you said a compliment about it being tough?                   jj

It lays line so bad that it's basically a trash can, but it would suck at that too.

I'm all for Lew's casting reels, but spinning has always left a lot to be desired. I thought surely this time will be different. Nope. Putrid.

Sorry to hear about your experience.

I would pass on the spinning reel as well.

I like the screw in handle type and this one appears to have a handle nut to tighten on the opposite side.

Lew’s only has a few spinning reels with screw in handles, like the Speed Spin HS series and the Custom Pro.

The KVD baitcaster looks fine but I would spend the 10 extra dollars and get the Tournament MP. I read somewhere, but have not confirmed myself, that the MP is made in Korea and not China like the KVD reel. That would be worth the $10 extra dollars alone.

I like my KVD reels better than my MP so far honestly.

Thanks, but it's ok. "It is what it is." I almost exclusively use Lew's casting reels because I love how they feel, but go with other options for spinning reels. I knew what I could be getting myself into when I got a Lews spinning reel. I don't know why they can't figure this out. I'd say it's a lot like the opposite of Pflueger: great spinning, subpar casting.

NYwayfarer,

Thank you for responding to this post. I too prefer the screw in handle. I have no bait casting reels. My are all spinning. Please enjoy your day and stay safe.

I have the kvd spinning reel and fit and finish is good ! It was laying line down top heavy! Called Lews and they sent me a couple of the washers for the spool and that fixed the issue.

suzuki2903,

Thank you for that information. Sounds like Lew's has great customer service. That will go along ways in keeping existing customers and bringing in new ones. Please have a wonderful and safe Sunday.
