Can anyone share how the JDM Metanium and USDM Curado 70 compare when it comes to handle diameter and knob size? I hear a lot abou the JDM Metanium being undersized for some, and I was curious how it compares. I have a few 70s, and I don't mind the handle and knob sizing.

I'm relatively new to baitcasters, but I will say that the JDM Met is one comfortable and amazing reel.  I'm very happy with my purchase, but I do find the shorter handle being something I might change in the future.  Sometimes when chopping my retrieve, I feel like I lose a moment of control.  I also might get better muscle memory with it over time.  I haven't used the Curado 70 for comparison, sorry.

Thanks Scott! I'm a little curious on this before I pull the trigger. If it is something smaller than what the 70 has, I may take advantage of the Bass Pro Spring Sale and save a few dollars and not have to upgrade anything.

Handle diameter or length? Which Curado 70? The new MGL or the last version? I have the older Curado 70, the 70K MGL and the 20 Met JDM. I replace all my knobs with Power Grip II knobs, I did not like the Met knobs. That is a cheap and easy fix though. As far as handle length, it depends on the Curado model you have. 

 

All that being said, the 20 Met is an amazing reel but if you want to save a few bucks, the Curado 70K MGL is a great reel as well.

Handle length and I have the original 70s non MGL. Curious if the stock JDM Mets are comparable in size to what is included on the original 70s or are they even smaller than that (handle length and knobs).

Knobs are very similar and I think both handles are 84 mm on the Curado 70 and the Met MGL. The handles are longer and the knobs are bigger on the 70/k MGL.

I like the shorter handle for moving baits with trebles.  Ive used the JDM Met for mojo rigs and chatterbaits, but the combination of the slower ratio model I have and the short handle makes me feel like I always trying to catch up to the fish for the hookset.  I think the JDM XG handle is longer then the HGs, but if its too short its really an easy fix.
