The Metric Conversion Act was 1975, I remember well.

I was a SAE-A2C chairman for electrical interconnect components and all drawings, specifications no documents had to be converted to metric. We were working on the B1 program and the new connector had to be designed using metric threads for the 1st time. Metric gages etc, etc.

Spinnerbaits are the biggest crap shoot there is out there as far as weight goes. As someone who builds his own baits, I'll let you in on a little secret with spinnerbaits.

In general, the packaged "weight" of a spinnerbait is the weight of the hook/jig/wire form. Things like the bearing swivel, blades, clasps, beads, spacers, skirts, etc. all add extra weight to the bait. So that 3/8oz spinnerbait could be 5/8oz, or maybe even upwards of 7/8oz once its fully decked out.

However, there are some manufacturers out there who will sell a spinnerbait as it's actual weight as a finished product. So that's why sometimes you'll see a 1/2oz spinnerbait that looks really small, and another one next to it on the shelf that looks massive compared to it.

When I was in elementary school back in the 70's we were told that in 10 years the U.S. will have converted to the metric system.

Ha, I remember that too.
