Lake Burton, Ga.

We are renting on lake Burton this summer, and will have a boat for limited time.  Deep mountain lakes are quite different from my Everglades experiences.  What would you throw?

If you've never fished a deep water reservoir your best bet is to hire a guide.  Other wise throw a worm @ anything different you see.  Blowdowns, stickups and grass.  There's not much grass in Burton.  If it's sunny, docks are always a good bet.

And your next door to Hiawassee, Lake Chatuge. Unicoi park has a nice lake, Vogel park has a nice lake.

You have many options, make sure you bring clear water gear.

Spent a week on Chatuge last summer, that was some tough fishing for a flat lander!

I hope that you'll post reports of your trip, good or bad.  I just purchased a place on Lake Keowee over in South Carolina and while I'd have Keowee, Jocassee and Hartwell in my backyard, I can definitely see travelling an hour at times to fish Burton as well.  Looks like a really nice fishery, clear water, multi-species, just the type of fishery that I've always enjoyed.  Good luck.

Just found out that the family switched locations to Keowee, 20 minutes from Clemson.  Gangreen any tips?
