Weedless Tube Jig

Featured Replies

I fish a lot of Tube Jigs. I prefer to fish the jig with a open hood jig head i feel I get a better hood set.  Plus I prefer a 3.5" tube (Schuberts) and i find the wider gapped hooks seem to be longer than the body of the tube which hurts T-rigging hookset.  Does anyone know of a system to make an open jig head weedless in a tube?  Thanks!!

This is what I use for tube hooks. The weight goes inside the tube & is hidden. You can then skin hook the tube when you run the hook on the other side. I either have the eye on top of the nose of the tube, if the area I'm fishing isn't all that weedy. Or I'll make sure the hook goes in the middle of the nose, so I get less weeds when I'm dragging the tube.

another site.com also sell these hooks.

When I T-rig a tube I use a normal worm hook. After hooking it through the nose I drop split shot into the back of the tube (as many as needed).Continue T-rig as normal.

Jig Man in picture one are you just bending your weed guard so it slips up in the tubes at the same time as the jig head??

No I am not. I took a metal tube and put a nail in the end of it. I run it through the tube, put the weed guard inside of it, and push the head into the tube until the weeguard comes through the hole. It works best if you lube the jig head a bit with oil or spit. Old tv rabbit ears will make many many of these little gizmos.
