I have a 93 200 merc.  I used my boat two wks ago and it ran fine no problems I went to go fishing yesterday put the motor on the muffs, put it in neutral, pumped the blub and choked it a couple of times and it didnt start.  I turned over but wouldn't fire.  Do you think I might of fouled the plugs or would it be something else. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks,

Jenga

Only thing to do is pull the plugs and take a look at them. If they look ok, start checking the fuel delivery system.

Just because it did not start does not mean it isn't firing. How do you know it is not firing? Have you already checked it?

Check to see if the cylinders are getting fuel. You may be cranking on a dry(Fuel) motor.

Not to be ignorant, but use the K.I.S.S. principal, check the deadman switch first.  I bet there are more teardowns that are done without checking this first.  It def. cause a cranking but no start condition.

X2, but like the fool I am, I figured he had checked it.

I don't know a lot about motors so everything you have said is going over my head.  I just thought it could be an easy fix, I will have my mechanic look at it.  I just took out the plugs and everything looked fine.

Thanks,
