What's The Worst Thing That's Ever Happened To You While Fishing?
Scariest thing for me was 3 years ago. Wife and I put boat in the water at 4am, foggy as all get out. We had to idle to where I wanted to fish, took approx 45min to get to where we were going. Wife and I were sitting still for the entire time, until we got close and I moved my foot and realized it was cold. I reached down and there was water coming up through the floor drain at the helm!! I thought we had a good sized hole somewhere. I paniced, I could just start to see as the sun was coming up and opened it up and headed for the nearest ramp, bilge pump running entire time. We hit the ramp with enough water both batteries were covered in the bilge. Beached it shallow so it couldn't sink out of sight, and we sat there while I bitched and moaned about the predicament we were in. Suddenly in a moment in between rants I heard a hum. Then it is hit me "look at the dash", in the dark I hit the switch for the livewell fill pump, and it was filling the entire boat. That next weekend I installed illuminated switches.

G Loomis Poseurs
If you see me out on the lake you will see me wearing a loomis hat also. I don't own a single casting or spinning rod from them, so you won't see them in my boat. However, I own 2 of their flyrods, and also own a few other high end flyrods.

Water Temps At Raystown Lake
Skeet, That site is down more than it is up. Waterflow is usually accurate, but temp is normally down.

Water Temps At Raystown Lake
Was there fishing on March 8. 38.5 to 41.5 midlake.

6.5 X 55 , 7 X 57
both are excellent rounds. the Swede (6.5x55) is the flatter shooting of the two. 140gr has the same density as the 7mm. When handloaded in strong actions, the 6.5 can approach the 6.5x284 in velocity. In case I haven't said they are excellent. Low recoil also.

Central Pa. Lake Updates-June
Raystown is fishing well. Post-spawn now, bass chasing baitfish in the weeds. I got to watch a small school of (6) 2lbers chasing and slashing bait in a weedline near James creek. Boated 4 best was 3lb 10oz. and with that one, it is my luck to catch a tagged fish that was already claimed, figures..... Water temp is 74 on surface, at least 6ft of clarity.

Raystown lake update
Surprisingly there wasn't that much debris in the water. No more than in the summer when the pleasure boater churn it up. You can see the mudline up on the banks. We did mark some fish in the 20 - 30 foot depths.

Raystown lake update
Went out for about 8hrs today on the lake. Put in at 7 points. Muddy water upstream of the launch, james creek area, visiblity was around 1.5 feet to all but clear down at the mile marker 4. Water temp ranged from 44.5 up around james creek to 37.8 in between mile markers 3 and 4. Managed one bite and of course missed it. chigger craw in about 10' of water. Good day out though.

Central PA. Lake Updates
Aitch, James Creek and shy beaver will be open again soon. They did find the person that did it. I will give a better update as I am heading there tomorrow morning with a buddy to check out the lake. Gauges are showing it is back to normal pool.

Elites= Athletes?
And to be an "athlete" you also have to have some kind of scandal, drugs or be paid in the tens of millions.

What techniques do you want to improve on and why?
My biggest short coming isn't so much a technique, I really need to use my electronics more and get away from being a bank beater. I always start out with great hopes fishing some hidden gem but end up pitching to a laydown somewhere. This obiviously kills my catch during the summer.

What did you get the wife for Christmas
Nook Color and a couple ebooks for it. This is the first year in 7 that we have actually bought something for each other. We usually just do the Mom and dad and kids thing. I still didn't match what she bought me though, Glock 20.

Swimbait reel
I will def being getting a lefty. Only reel I have left that is a right retreive is my cranking reel. I keep it like that so I remember the ratio is 5.2 to 1. Everything else I have is 6.3, with one 7.3 KVD I bought last year.

Swimbait reel
Thanks everyone. I know that these reels aren't the best in the world, but for all of my other presentations they work well. I figured that I was pushing an "OK" design past its limits. I am going to look into the cardiff.

Swimbait reel
I have a basspro extreme reel that does everything that I want it to do except through anything heavier than 1oz. I can muster through casting a wake shad but it tries to birdnest if I am not super careful. Is it possible to throw lures that are too heavy for a reel? And if so what do I need to look for in a reel and opinions on a make/model. Thanks mike

Pa Fish and Boat Commission Voting on C&R Season on Susky and Juniata Rivers
My comment is going to sting some people also. I have witnessed people in tourneys at Raystown that have no respect for their quarry. Helpers throwing fishing into the water and them bouncing off of the rocks and the concrete ramp. Mid summer I saw at least 12 nice 2.5 -3lb fish floating around the dock at James Creek. I know this isn't a discussion of Raystown, but there are a lot of tournaments on the Susky as well throughout the year. I know at Raystown there is a tourney almost every Friday and Saturday out of James Creek during the Season opens and during the summer.

Pa Fish and Boat Commission Voting on C&R Season on Susky and Juniata Rivers
This will be the second time around for this. I remember quite a few years ago it was open all year on rivers and streams and closed on lakes. Then they shut it down and now you can fish all year again everywhere. I don't think the fish get anywhere near the pressure during the spawn as what everyone thinks. I have fished during the spawn this year for the first time and I bet I didn't see 10 boats out on the lake.

Fishing Raystown
Yes. Brumbaugh bay is full of carp as is most of the lake. BTW, I was up there Sunday afternoon. Bass have definitely suspended it seems. Baitfish everywhere on the surface. Counted at least 40 bait schools around peewee island. Surface temp was still 71 deg.
