  1. Yeah that hill sucks!!! I have been there twice now. First outing I timed it right and hitched a ride and this time I had to walk it. I caught that pick right across from the ramp where those logs stick up out of the water.
  2. Not to be ignorant, but use the K.I.S.S. principal, check the deadman switch first. I bet there are more teardowns that are done without checking this first. It def. cause a cranking but no start condition.
  3. Caught this critter this afternoon while fishing a small lake. Letterkenny reservoir just outside of Roxbury. Maybe others here have fished it.
  4. As for lube on it, I had a fella tell me to use dishsoap. Works perfect and there is no chance of petroleum attacking the rubber impeller.
  5. I have just bought and installed two carlisles on my trailer in august. Great luck with them.
  6. I am 35 and a production supervisor for a very large construction equip. manufacturer.
  7. I haven't had much trouble with backlashes at night, my troubles arise when I miscalculate the distance to the bank and put a super spook in the darn trees ;D :'(
  8. jay and silent bob strike back.
  9. There are two areas that you need to watch out for. One is just up from James Creek, at the mouth of trough creek. There is a danger bouy marking the spot off of a very narrow point. On either side of that point the water is approx. 50 - 70 feet and right off the tip of point it comes up to 8ft at about 50 yds off the shore. Lots of cannon balls lost on this area. The second that I know of is down past 7 points marina I believe it almost at the 5 mile marker. Its another point that on one side that water is (no joke) 130 feet and comes up to 6 feet faster than my electronics can keep up. Lots of still standing timber under that water.
  10. Everything I caught was on a rapala husky jerk, silver. The only two bridges that I can think of in close proximity of each other. Either it was the main causeway or the one that spans over coffee run/creek cove. Both get extremely hectic around noon. I usually fish down around James creek area.
  11. I was up there this last Sat. from 4am and stayed til 12pm just because I couldn't get out at the ramp. Didn't do real bad for the lake I ended up with 6 all average 1.5 -2.25 lb. nothing huge but that lake is tough for me. Water temp at surface was around mid to high 70s. Found all of my fish along deep weeds, 6 - 10 feet deep weeds next to 20 - 40 feet of water.
  12. I would imagine that there are more on here that have better news for ya, but I didn't do very well on the lake. I went twice and caught one dink each time. I couldn't figure out the lake, I don't really like fishing the electric only lakes as I am not set up for that really. Like I said, I am sure that there are people that have much better luck than I have had.
  13. Pizza is 1st, chili is 2nd and any kind of homemade soup
  14. Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, New York and Georgia. Also Italy.
  15. I know this an older thread so sorry right off. All the water I fish there is visibility down to approx 12 feet or more (lower Raystown lake) and I just started using braid this year and I loved the sensitivity. I caught fish but nowhere near the strikes that I had with mono, so I tied a 4 - 6 ft. 17lb floro leader on and wow what a difference. Catches have gone up and it hasn't hurt the sensitivity at all.
  16. Well I got out to Pinchot at around 10am and caught one nice fat 13in one and had two more decent fish boil at a bluegill pattern 4in tru-tungsten swimbait. Nice lake, water temp was crazy 85 on the surface. I plan to fish this lake more soon, seems like it has potential. Mike
  17. Hello, My wife and I are contemplating taking a trip to it on Wed this week, however neither of us have been to it before and it is 2+ hrs from my home in Newville. I am asking if anyone has any info on this lake...worth the trip, waste of time, etc? I am going over to another local lake I have never been, Pinchot. I have heard good things about this lake and also Holman Lake up in Little Buffalo Park. Is there a better ramp to put in at Pinchot? Anything for baits that work better than others (nothing specific I can understand that). Thanks everyone, Mike
  18. I have a spectrum dominator (for all intent is a bass tracker mod. V) with a Merc 60hp jet. I can run in less than a foot of water when on plane. I take the same boat since it is my only boat to very large lakes also with no ill effects other than the lack of speed and what becomes very apparent, the low effeciency of the jet drive. I wouldn't get rid of it for anything but I do want to purchase a glass boat with a much bigger "hammer" hanging off the rear for the lakes.
  19. I cast righty and reel with either. I like left hand reels for walkin the dog, tried it lefty and just felt like one of jerry's kids. I like to have both just in case one wrist gets tired.
  20. Stand I only sit if I have to tram with the trolling motor to another spot, it it is close by. I do sit once in a while because of back aches.
  21. I don't have a lot of experience with boats but I would look for a ground problem. Anything like that in a car or truck would point to grounding issues. Hope that helps. Mike
  22. Very nice fish man!!!
  23. Dear readers, Well the morning started out inocent enough, dark, foggy but we were the only ones at the ramp at 3:30am. First was the fog and the fact the Mrs. talked me into going to a different than usual ramp, it is about 3 miles upstream in the lake, but no problem. Well started out and then without moonlight it was more than difficult to navigate out to the place I wanted to fish ( this is a place I discovered last weekend about the same time table). Well without being able to see it was a debate about where the land ends and lake begins(anyone who has been on this lake knows that it is longer than wide). We finally, after about 2 miles of slow going, I turn my foot and realize that my foot is wet and there is water on the floor. Well panic sets in and full throttle for land. Bilge running for all its worth and I start thinking...Did I hit something sometime???? Quick hit with a maglite shows the malfunction...live will fill pump is on and filling the boat. Side bar: Illuminated switches will be put in place. 30min later bilge empty and started to fish, NOTHING. Daylight starting to show but no sun just lots and lots of fog. Re-fished area from before and caught 5 (4 lg and one smallie) nothing huge but respectable for the lake I think around 1.5-2lb. Ended up to be a decent day fishing with a 7.5 month pregnant wife that is hungry or has to pee continuously. PS wife finally caught first bass and on a 1/8oz buzz bait. Mike
  24. Those look very similar to what we call Fallfish in PA. Lots of bigger ones (15-20in) in the trout streams. They do fight well.
