NE Pa. LMB / SMB Lures & Color Advise Needed

Featured Replies

I am traveling back to my hometown in PA in a few weeks from NC. Going to have some time to fish and hoping to get some advice from any of our Northern members on what lures, trailers, colors I should plan on bringing. I have all kinds of tackle for my southern waters (green pumpkins, watermelons, shad colors) but want to maximize my time on the water up there and not bring all my baits if I can help it.
Planning on bringing 3 BC (H/F, MH/F, MH/M) and 2 spinning (M/F, ML/F) combos with maybe an extra reel with braid. I can cover any techniques with these but I am most confident fishing swim jigs, chatters, senkos, and drop shot. Will be fishing private ponds in small boats at my hunting clubs but have never really fished them since I was a kid with a worm and bobber.
Any advice is welcomed. Will pick up some different lures / colors, but trying not to get crazy with the bait monkey for a few days of fishing. Thanks I’m advance...

Got out this AM at my club pond and had a great day. Caught 10 bass and 3 pickerel. Largest bass was only 3 pounds but the fights these fish put up is way different from the ponds in NC. Deeper water so the fish can dig harder I guess. I’m pretty sure these fish have never seen a chatter bait and were choking it. Still managed to lose 4 fish though. Was throwing into Lilly pads and fish were sitting on downwind edges and in isolated pockets. Feel like I found and worked that pattern which was fun.
Actually caught 6 more on the chatter at another pond this evening but nothing picture worthy. I really wish the bass bit like this where I live... haha.

Yes, yes I did! Thanks. Haha

Awesome when a plan works out!  Why didn't you just lip that pickerel?  ?

Nice job!

Looks like the stuff you always throw works just fine.   Does nobody in the club fish the pond with chatterbaits? If not, I suppose the fish there really wouldn't have seen one before.

Turns out no one targets the bass in our pond. Very few people even fish there and they only want the perch to eat. Showed a chatter to my cousin and he had never seen one before. After I caught 6 in 30 mins in front of him last night, he bought several today!
Heading back out tomorrow so hoping to get on them again. Storm came through tonight so I’m hoping they aren’t shut down. I believe they are pre spawn here still though so hoping for another good day.
