water separator / filter

Featured Replies

Trying to do as much as possible to fight the effects of ethanol.  I already have been using marine formula stabil.  Also have heard about installing a water separator / filter.  Looking for opinions on these filters and if you guys think it would help.

Thanks

I put a new Racor on my boat Monday. It was pretty pricy ($102.00 with tax), but it has the glass bowl on the bottom with a drain so you can just glance to see if you have any water. There are a lot of others on the market for half that, but I was just more comfortable with this one. It was a small price to pay to protect my new motor.

Good luck,

Jack

I have a water separator on my Mercury XR6.  I wish I had installed the one with the glass bowl as Jack did.

My motor came with one.  My tech says empty at 6 months, refill, then replace with a new on each year.  That is what I have been doing for the last 7 years.

I plan on installing one this winter.I currently have a glass fuel filter and use Star-Tron or marine Sta-bil.

I also put a Racor on my boat a couple of months ago. They are on the expensive side as fishfordollars stated. Mine was $129 including new hoses & bulb. I now can get non ethanol gas @ 89 octane for $2.899 a gal at the landing. ;)

I've been debating the same thing for a couple of months. Can anyone recommend where to purchase a Racor on the web?...........................Al
