Featured Replies

ok so i have been experimenting with new lures, and i cant figure out one lure, its a sinking jerkbait. can any one help me with this lure, like where i can use it, how to use it, when to use it, etc?

I've been asking myself the same question. The whole idea behind a jerkbait is that they suspend or float but sinking? I know in japan they use them in saltwater for seabass but in freshwater I don't see much use. I have caught some walleye with sinking jerkbaits but never bass, that's why I hardly use them anymore. Has anyone had succes with the LC Pointer in the sinking version?

The jerkbait is a very powerful weapon if applied right to the conditions. This is one of my favorite fall and early springtime baits. When bass are feeding on baitfish the LC Pointer and Rapala X-Rap are about as close as you can get to a match the hatch situation.

You can twitch them erratically when bass are chasing or when bass are inactive a twitch twitch pause retrieve will provoke strikes in colder water. When stopped the bait sits stable in the water and most of the times this is when the strike will occur.

This has become one of my favorite baits and I have a lot of confidence.

P.s If you go to youtube and type in rapala, they have a video of the X-rap, how to work it and what it looks like underwater with pros showing.

Hope this helps. -whitemike

I know they are a powerful weapon but suspending or floating models. But where do you apply sinking jerkbaits? I have caught alot of bass on Megabass Vision 110's and other suspending jerkbaits but never on sinking jerkbaits!

The countdown is a jerkbait and exactly one of the baits I can't catch a fish on. I also have a sinking pointer which I can't get bit but the suspending pointer works great!

ok so i have been trying to find out what type of jerkbait i have and i finally found it, it is a strike king bleeding bait, hok wild shiner. i am new to jerkbaits and cant tell if it sespends or sinks to the bottom.

I just checked their website, and it appears to be a suspending jerkbait.

I have had some luck fishing the sinking Duel Crystal Minnow just above the top of grass.  I cast is out, count it down and begin a constant twich.  The bait pops up each time I twich, sinks down to just touch the grass and I pop it free then repeat.  Never had much luck with this from shore but from a boat it can be great.
