Lake Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho was ranked in the top 10 for the country a few years back.

Lake Elmo, MT recently produced a state record.  I've heard good stuff about Echo Lake, MT.  Fort Peck has massive SMB (also MT).

In addition to CDA, Dworshak Reservoir has a good reputation for big smallmouth. State record of 9.7 was caught there 15 years ago and there have been a lot of big SM caught since.

Great!  Thanks!  I think that covers MT.  How about WY?  Anyone?

Bighorn lake, Kleenburn ponds, which produced the massive 11.5 lb state record, really large for this far north.  Other than that, I don't know much about WY.

Flaming Gorge is western Wyoming. Great smallmouth lake.
