Has anyones Lowrance Hook reveals screen went black?

Featured Replies

I took my hook out for the first time today. I was paddling around looking at the graph and then all of a sudden the screen went black. I tried pressing the power button, not holding, as I know that's how you adjust the brightness but it didn't do anything. It beeps like it's registering the press but nothing on the screen shows. I tried powering off and on several times and that hasn't helped. When powering on I can see a very faint hook logo and then it goes black. Any ideas of what's going on?

Could be it's bad, could be something is loose, or could be a voltage issue.

Sounds like a weak battery to me. When the voltage drops, even a couple of volts, the unit just shuts down.

I was thinking this but tested the battery and it's got enough power. I am just going to return it and get another one.

My Hook2 Reveal 7 does this as well. The unit does not power down as I can hold the power button and ultimately faintly see the Hook power down screen. Invariably, when I power it back up, I have to adjust the brightness back to the level I typically set it at.

I was hoping there was a software update but the only one I could find for the Tripleshot wouldn’t load in my unit. It would seem a call to Lowrance support is in order.

I had this happen to me, it was not simply the brightness setting. Had to have it warrantied by BPS. Luckily I pulled the boat up there, showed him it wasn't the brightness and that the front unit worked at the console location to confirm the wiring and all was fine. He ordered the new unit and I left with my boat so that I wasn't with out it for a month. Mine started every now and then and slowly kept getting more frequent until it didn't work at all. BPS tech said he sees one every few months, and that they have changed the model does this now. Hope you can get it fixed under warranty. Good luck.

It was less than a week from purchasing it so I just went ahead and ordered a new one and I'm returning the broken one. That way I don't have to deal with the long warranty process.
