Sure there is not a leak in the seal??

new to the boat owner world.  what would I look for if it is the seal?  will try your suggestion, thanks for the help.

Any crack etc. rubber sticking out. I would also call the help line for the manufacturer (Lowrance etc.) and tell them what's going on.

The seal has been compromised

If you tear into it you have voided any warrany that you have. Reguardless of the manufacturer.

Just a suggestion if you do not do this: Put some kid of cover on it when you are going down the road, a small rock thrown from your back tire could cause seal failure imo.

I like Lowrance electronics but I've never had one (and have probably had a dozen or more) or one of their Eagles that did not fog some on the inside when the sun hit them on cool mornings after they were about a year old

I believe they are all supposed to be evacuated,sealed and filled with nitrogen at the factory. I would call the manufacturer for suggestions.

I'm with you on this condensation issue.  All of mine (3 right now) do it if you do not keep it warm when running down the lake.  In fact, I have been keeping them inside the truck until we arrive at the lake to keep them warm and I turn them on immediately when mounting on boat.  I shield them from direct cold wind when going fast down the lake.  This stops the moisture on the inside of the screen.

If it's out of warranty, unscrew the back and put it in zip lock bag with some dry rice for a few days.  The rice will absorb the moisture.  A big cause of fogging is leaving sonars on the boat while stored outside between trips.  The pressure changes caused by changes in temp, especially under a boat cover, eventually cause the seals to leak.
