Rainy day bait(s)

Often times, my best day of the season occurs when it’s raining or cloudy. I look for these days in the forecast and try to fish them, especially in the warm summer months. Moving lures are usually more effective like spinner baits, topwater, chatter baits, and wake baits as others have mentioned.

As Tom mentioned it keeps some people off the water so there’s usually less pressure. Rain also means low pressure which usually means a better bite.

I don't change baits just because it's raining. I use the exact same ones I use when it's not raining.

I can tell you that I’ll throw a big dark colored worm after a rain. My working theory is that type of forage gets washed into the lake. I’ve had some solid success with it.
