I am relocating my transducer for my hummingbird mega 9 side imaging to the transom. My boat is a 1997 bass tracker 175txw. There does not seem to be a great place to install it on this boat.  This boat has the small step below the transom and the motor turns clockwise from the rear. Any suggestions? By the way I want be doing anything but troll speed when looking. I fish small lakes mostly.

Without a  picture of your transom I'm just speculating here. But I mounted my HB side imaging transducer quite a ways to the side. The critical thing is following the mounting instructions to be sure you're outside of their  recommended minimum distance to the prop (turbulence).

 

But don't expect accurate depth readings at speed due to the size/length of the transducer. Because it sticks out so far, I added a Transducer Shield  & Saver spring mount and their Armor plate as well for some protection.

Install the TD using the recommended placement by the mfr.

Prop wash is behind the TD, hull turbulence is a the issue that is why it should be flat with the plane surface depth should you decide to use it at higher speeds.
