  1. Of all the upland game birds, chukkar are the best tasting by far, to my palate. And considering where they are found in the wild, the hardest to hunt. A covey run you up and down a steep slope only to disappear at the last minute. I was hunting in Wyoming once when a covey started up a cliff in front of me and my GSPs. I stayed put while a couple of buddies went around up to the top. We never did see 'em again: they seemingly disappeared right into the face of the cliff. 🤨
  2. Yup, drives me nuts. I have the opposite problem: websites for Cabelas, Bass Pro and Academy don't function right in Firefox anymore (my preferred browser) and now only work in Chrome. ☹️
  3. The NFC site can be rather wonky for me at times, I'm sure the Edge side as well. FWIW, working fine for me in Firefox using either main link via Google or directly to edgerods.com. Maybe you're inadvertently using a link to a subdirectory??
  4. I buy plenty of blanks, actually nearly all my blanks, plus many grips and guides from the North Fork Composites side of Edge Rods, and yes, back orders are the norm but I don't consider it a problem: if it's not in stock but available for back order I know it will take months, sometimes many many months, until they make a run of that particular model of blank. But the depth of selection in excellent blanks, great designs in carbon fiber grips, Fuji Torzite titanium guides...with frequent sale prices...make me plan ahead on the products I need or may like to try. Whenever I order something and change my mind or change the specs for the planned build, they have always been happy to cancel the order the same day I request it. They're good folks and, as Gary says, actually making something of quality here in USA.
  5. Sure popular in my and my friend's boat...we always have one tied on and usually in our hands. Always incredibility productive for me, despite the apparent dissatisfaction of the podcasters. 😉
  6. On the Rodbuilding.org forum, a member posted this: "Daiwa has started using a carbon wrap on guides with their Steez AGS Real Control line. But that's on a $1299 price tag rod..." Food for thought?
  7. Probably will at some point just to see how it looks and whether it offers any advantages for certain builds.
  8. I prefer builting with North Forks Composite carbon split grips on most bass rods for light weight and durability but heavier flip and swimbait rods get full length cork. NFC carbon has some surface texture that not only improves grip but is very comfortable. I have used full length carbon fiber on a jerkbait rod and a couple of panfish/light spinning rods. Will be experimenting with some NFC XO Skeleton grips for maximum weight reduction on a couple upcoming UL spinning builds.
  9. Took the thought right out of my head. Love my Brownell's precision screwdriver set, too.
  10. Precision Sonar Graph Glass. I have 3 in use on my Humminbirds, all clear. I may try an antiglare on my Live Image graph down the road.
  11. I use Yamaha gear oil (taken from leftovers in the bottle after servicing my outboard), applied with a syringe.
  12. Useful, but only a distant second place compared with Mega Live.
  13. So sorry to hear this. I read recently that we grieve so deeply for dogs because they have given us such unconditional love. Fellow dog lovers know what you're going through. I buried a piece of my heart with each dog I've lost. I'm still struggling with my latest loss (Tricksie who passed on March 5). My heart goes out to you in this time of grief, brother.
  14. I use A for nearly everything.
  15. Sorry about that. I just pick up my orders so I wasn't aware of the current shipping costs.
  16. I'd buy it for $6.95 plus shipping ($6 or so) from Voodoo Custom Rods. https://voodoorods.com/t/color-preservers--cork-seal They are just down the road from me and ship out orders the same day. You'll have it in hand way faster than Mud Hole, and way-way faster than Get Bit. 😎
  17. Certainly not in my experience, it is the only flourocarbon I've used for years without issue. Berkley Vanish, now we're talking failures 😉
  18. I find Owner, Gamakatsu, Trokar all pass my fingernail test (dig into the nail)...maybe I have soft fingernails, but they're at least as hard as the mouth of your average bass. 😉
  19. Both my recently pased Tricksie and Max (another GSP "working" dog, now 9) got Cosequin every day for years. After he eats I tell Max "pill" and he sits for Cosequin like it's a treat. Anything to support joint health, especially in working dogs, is a good thing IMO.
  20. No experience with Galliprant or some of the other meds mentioned. But I do have longterm experience with Rimadyl. For Tricksie, my GSP upland dog, I relied on Rimadyl for post hunt aches and pains and then serious arthritis pain and lameness in her hind quarters for the last few years of her life. She passed March 5 at 14 1/2. GSPs are the NFL quarterbacks of the dog world and Tricksie was a hard charger and by retirement, had the body to go with it. In her first hunt with a GPS collar she had run 24 miles by the end of day. My vet always prescribed the 100 mg chewables which I was to cut in half for the correct dose (saved a bunch over 50 mg pills) for a 50# dog. She took it daily for the last 3 years of her life with no apparent liver damage. Best of luck with whichever way you ultimately chose for a long, active and healthy life for your lab. The photo is my old girl at 2 1/2 at the close of our first hunting season together.
  21. My fingernail test for hook sharpeness isn't whether it will scratch/slide along my nail, but dig into it. Inevitably the premium brands not only pass the test, but retain their sharpness longer.
  22. Godspeed Catt, sorry we never crossed paths on the waters of the Bayou State. Although I only knew you through this forum, you always came across as an admirable gentleman and fount of fishing knowledge that you always were generous in sharing. You will be missed.
  23. Kinda late to the party but I have two Phenix Feather FTX-C 71L with Curado BFS and 8# Sunline Sniper. They can do it all as far as I'm concerned and are great looking to boot.
  24. Voodoo Rods also have the Point Blanks at the same price. But unlike Mud Hole or Get Bit, Casey at Voodoo normally ships the same day if you order early. Amazing service and highly recommended. 👍
