Jack Plate Operation

Featured Replies

I'm in need of an overview of how Jack Plates operate and their function.   I've run fast boats with 225 on them several times but never one with a hydrolic jack plate I can operate while running.  A few pointers would be excellent to help shorten my learning curve.

Hydralic plates are great to run. You will be able to compensate for a partner, reguardless of weight, to max the performance, adjust for weight variances due to loads, and generally improve the fuel usage.

I wish I had one, but I am just to "cheap" to have one installed.

Gerald Swindle has an article in either BASS Master or Bass Times about running his. You might want to look it up. Something was mentioned about not towing or either towing it with the motor tucked up under the boat. Can't remember which was correct; however, Gerald said he never towed with the motor down and raised as he was nervous about damaging the lower unit when entering parking lots. Sorry can't remember , but check it out.

Let us know how it works for you.
