Pelican Bass Raider

Featured Replies

I am looking to buy my first bass boat and am very interested in the bass raider type boat. If I want to rig one with a trolling motor how do i do this? Do i just need a trolling motor, battery, and charger? How do the motor, battery, and charger work? Do i just plug one into another? Does anyone have any pics of theirs? Thanks for bearing with me!!

I got a Pelican Bass Raider 8e about 4 years ago.Nice little boat, I'm very happy with it. Fits my needs perfectly.

I mainly fish ponds and pits, some have no vehicle access, one is a half mile trek through the woods, another has very steep bank to launch from. So I keep it 100% portable and packable.Throw it on top of my blazer lock in the four wheel drive and get to places others only dream of putting a boat in.

I fish by myself about 80% of the time. So I feel there is plenty of room for me.Two people is a little cramped so you got to downsize your tackle and rods. Its very stable and I stand alot of the time.

Yes you just hook the trolling motor to the battery and go. I plan on building a better console for my fish finder\gps and adding a light. And some rod holders. Mine is pre-riged for electric so I can plug the trolling moter into the console and then plug the console into the boat. If I can be any more help just ask.

Here's a pic.

great set up turtle!

Mine is the pretty much the same but 10', mine is pre wired so I can have a trolling motor up front, and I have a small 3.5hp outboard for the back.  Its a very stable boat, and easy to move place to place.

Make sure you get the bass raider 10, 8 is too small for two people. Remember you need room for your net, tackle box, and battery.

You just need a regular battery charger, for the boat just get a transom mount trolling motor and a good battery. Don't go cheap on the battery because you want it to last all day. I got a Minn Kota Endura 30 pound thrust and it gets me around the lake pretty good. If you want to go with a 40 or 55 you're obviously going to suck a little more power.

You might want to check out the Minn Kota Traxxis, it has a new feature called Digital Maximizer. Digital Maximizer controls and optimizes power to extend battery life and reduce damaging heat.

That sure is a nice setup, you have just about everything you need on that baby.  Just make sure you keep it away from cement.  Every time you scrape it the plastic will wear down.  If you're like me and fish every week, that can eventually lead to a hole.  I always launch my boat on grass.

Hey thanks guys. The hull is ram-x pretty tuff stuff. I also have a 16' Coleman scanoe(flat back canoe) witch also is ram-x and the main reason I went with the pelican. Over the last 12 years I have totally abused that canoe dragging it down river beds, creek bottoms and pavement. And it has held up awesome.

I hear what your saying Smallmouth41 but some times you got to do what you got to do to get to those honey holes.

There's usually no waiting at this boat ramp. lol

google  quick lift boat dolly .looks like a handy thing.

how much do those pelican boat weigh? Care you able to handle that yourself? And do you need to register it?

I have the pelican 10' and it weighs 147 lbs. It is pretty easy to load and unload into a pickup.

Here in NY if you use a motor be it electric or gas, it needs to be registered.

Hey really appreciate that info
