What size O rings??

Featured Replies

I bought the O-Wacky brand of o rings for wacky and Neko but they are really tight and when I cross them into a x they really cut into the baits. Especially max scent Generals. I know they have different sizes and I need to check what size I have. I mainly use Generals and Gambler Ace stick baits. What sizes are best to hold snug but not cut the baits in half?

Been eyeballing the VMC crossover rings but still don't know what size I need.

The size that works for me with senkos is a 3/8" od / 1/4" id.    These are just a little tight on senkos but with a little slobber they go on pretty easily and stay put.  Your results may differ.

I would suggest that you take your baits - go to Ace Hardware of someplace like that - go to the plumbing aisle where they have the individual o-rings for sale and see which ones fit your chosen baits best.

A long time ago, someone told me about a web site - o-rings.com.   I went there and after a couple of phone calls, I got a distributor in St. Louis who would sell me some.  The smallest order they would consider was 1000 of them and that cost me $10 plus postage.  The woman on the phone wondered out loud what I needed with such a small order of o-rings.   I'm pretty sure somewhere in the fishing shed I have 300 or so left.

On a side note, I've tried crossing them over - it is a pain and I really don't see a higher percentage of hooked fish, so I don't bother any more.

Hooking them over is so I can have the hook vertical and not horizontal along the bait. Its the way i like to do it. Good idea about going to a hardware store. I will have to try that.

i myself quit using an o-ring and just hook em. After the experience of my worms getting tugged off and just the o-ring left on the hook i had enough.

I bought that nice vmc o-ring installer last year and now i put it into my dont use tackle pile.

Maybe you will do well with the o-ring but have you tried without the o-ring or are you just caught up in the group that praises the o-ring?

I hook through the plastic on wacky

I double wrap a single o-ring for my Neko trick worms
