Ive had this curado k for 3 years now and from when I first fished it the line lay always cheats to the left side of the spool no matter what I do. I have backed all the line off and respooled it multiple times. I have no problems with line lay on any other reels I own. I am sure it is the reel and not my shoddy spooling technique. Is there a way to shim a baitcaster like you can on spinning reels? Or could this be a worm gear problem? Have any of you had reels that do this?

This happens with my Curado K as well and after a lot of searching for the solution, I came to realize it was the way I was retrieving the line.

 

I am right hand dominate and use a left hand reel due to comfort. I generally cast out or to my left when roll casting, especially from a kayak. Between the angle of the retrieve and the way I hold the reel, the line will stack more to the left. 

 

I usually underspool when I top up the spool with line for more control, so it isn't a big deal. When it gets bad, I just make a long cast straight out and reel in the line while keeping the rod straight and conscious not to favor one side or the other while reeling. Problem solved. 

 

The Curado K is a great reel and a solid performer. 

Check if you have some schmutz on your line guide on one side of the reel. It can cause it to stack on one side on the retrieve.

Your line guide pawl is occasionally jumping out of the worm gear's groove at its X at that end. One of two things could cause that. One is dirt, or grease building up on that end, the other is a worn pawl. If the pawl is the culprit, you can tighten its cap a little. That will also tell you if the pawl is the reason.
