Do you still get excited?

Featured Replies

I stay very excited about fishing, but many times, the intangibles that come with fishing are just as good for me.   A fox following me down the shoreline and watching me fish.   Nesting eagles talking to me and diving down to get a meal.   Otters playing in the water.   Loons singing.  Seeing a young kid with his Dad getting super excited about a catch.   Often times it is the adventure more than the fish.   The fish are still the drawdown the lake though.   That tick on the line and hook set with anticipation.   Yep, still does it.

Honestly?  No.  If it requires that I have to navigate the zoo at the ramp and the irritations on the water, I don’t care to go.  If I’m fishing a new venue with promising habitat and fish counts and can get out mid week, that’s different.  I also get excited to fish the structure others drive over.  If I can get the long rod out and crank deeep, I can get excited.

That’s the only thing I dread is the mess at the ramp  other then that as soon as I’m in the water I’m like a little kid
