Barometer?

Featured Replies

I assume that normal (not high or low) barometric pressures are different for different areas of the counrty.  What do you consider normal for your region. Around here it seems to be right at 30.0.  Anything above 30.12 and I know it’s going to be a tough gh day on the water

Barometer measure atmospheric pressure in inches if mercury, not very accurate. 29.92” is standard pressure at sea level. When you consider 100 millibars = 2.95” of mercury is a big change like a category 5 hurricane.

Factor in the altitude and humidity where you live and a 1.00” of change in mercury barometric pressure a big change in pressure that affects shallow water bass; lower more active, higher less active. Nothing we can do about weather except to accept it and respect it.

I don’t look at the barometer anymore, just watch weather reports.

I get out on the water when I can and I don't worry about the pressure.
