Rod Storage Ideas?

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I was wondering what some you guys with smaller boats did for rod storage? My rod locker will hold as many rods as I would ever need to put in there, but I want a way to secure the 3 or 4 rods I'm constantly using that aren't in the locker. My Procraft is 16.5' long and I'm having trouble finding a place/way to put them. Here's a picture of the interior. As you can see from the picture, the back deck is a good deal taller than the front, making it hard to store rods going from front to back.

Any ideas?

My buddy's old Gambler has a similar layout. He put a deck extensions in, and added RodSaver straps to store rods right on top of the port side rod locker.

you can get some rod straps like the guy above said for like $20.00 or less at bps or any other fishing store most likly.

I added a deck extension to my 15' 6" Skeeter and two Rod Savrs.

Thanks guys for ideas and pictures. I like that setup and it's probably the most practical. Did anybody ever have problems stepping on the rods? I guess it's something you just have to get used to. I tend to get a little excited, especially with a fish on.  :(

I try to keep the rods behind me if I'm flipping or pitching (which is 90% of the time) I keep five or six on the deck and like I said just keep them behind you and you will be fine. It's very convienent also.
