Rigging Big Soft Swimbaits

Featured Replies

Just ordered a lighter swimbait rod (up to 4oz lures) and looking at Cabelas for some lures. Alot of them come without hooks and I can only find stingers on amazon that probably come from china. I'd like to know what you guys use for quality stinger/harness setups.

I used AWF Surflon 35 lb coated multi strand wire and as a I recall single barrel #3 crimp sleeves. Owner STX 58 treble hooks for stingers. The easy method is crimp on the hook and use 1 of the treble barb inserted where you want. Make the wire leader from the hook to the top hook eye using a small loop.

I used #7 Berkeley black Cross lock snap or size 3 Owner Hyper Weld snap.

PS, Owner has several single and treble stinger hooks,

With that rod you can throw 6" Huddelston's. They come weedless, and with a top hook. They run about $26.00 USD.
