first boat!!!! :)

Featured Replies

Hey, just got a new 14 ft tracker flat bottom jon boat. Already thinking about adding a casting deck. Any tips or other ideas on how to pimp this thing out will be very appreciated. Also my first time towing a little nervous but real excited.

Towing is easier then it looks.  Just make sure to make wider turns.  Also back up slowly, one to get use to the trailer (the smaller the trailer the quicker it turns) and also if someone/thing comes behind the trailer.

Poll ideas:  Cheap way is to make a poll holder from PVC pipe.  Google PVC poll holder and you will get lots of ideas on a design.  Depending on your boat and personal choice of where to mount and style.

Good Luck with your new boat.

Congrats on your first rig. My advice would be to go out and use it a few times before doing and major alterations on it. You will get many years out of that boat and you will have plenty of time to adjust it to your needs. Good luck with it!

Tip for backing a trailer:

Place your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel.  Now, just move your hand to the left if you want the trailer to go left, to the right if you want it to go right.

Be sure the plug is in the boat, the back boat straps off, and nothing in your way.

Enjoy!
