Best use for 7'6" Abu Garcia Veritas Winch rod? 6' Quantum TEC605CB?

Featured Replies

Got an Abu Veritas Winch rod 7'6" MHM rod in a trade on Facebook. I know it'll run heavier cranks, but am curious about other possible uses. Thanks. This is my nicest rod right now.

Also, I have a Quantum TEC605CB 6' MM rod as well, new to cranking, wondering what you guys think are the best applications for each rod, and any info on the Quantum. I can't find much on it at all.

I have two of those winch rods. Perfect for chatterbaits, toads, swimjigs, spinnerbaits,cranks....and the list goes on, using braid. VERY versatile rod. The 7'11" heavy is awesome for those same things plus flipping and pitching. Spool that sucker up with 832 and go to work. Yer gonna love it.

Thanks T-Billy, I was very impressed by the backbone of it despite the moderate action. Definitely running braid on it for sure. It LAUNCHES my test plugs to the next county. Can't wait to use it for real. Was wondering if it would frog. By toads do you mean Hollow body, soft plastic(Stanleys Ribbit) or both? It'll send my Scummos a mile. Feels like a high end rod to me. Better than anything else I have.

I'm talking about soft plastic buzz toads. Might not be ideal for hollow frogs but it'll work. It'll throw them a mile that's for sure. It's actually pretty good for T rigs too. Loads up great and keeps them buttoned.

Didn't even consider rigging it. Thanks. Would a C rig work on it you think? My favorite rigging application.

Yep. Like I said, with braid it's a very versatile rod. It's the only rod I own two of, and I may buy another. I run 30# 832 on mine. That 7'11" H Veritas winch is great for riggin. Same great tip with more backbone. Does a great job of throwing 15 inchers over the boat when flippin and pitchin with it.

Thanks for all the info T-Billy. I'm a fan of the Power Pro Braid. Definitely going with the 30#. Love that stuff, on a budget it's just the best IMO. Going to run an Orra Winch for slow roll and a Revo 2 SX HS for burning. Spoons are going to be featured now that I know the things you told me. Love em. Thanks a bunch, sir, made my week. Going out Saturday, can't wait.
