Beaver Pond

Fished my hunting club beaver pond Saturday with an old man I found walking along the road. I've never fished it in the late Summer/ early Fall and now I know I'll wait til late Fall from now on. It took me 25 minutes of difficult pushing to get from the bank to open water(20 yards of 4' tall weeds). The average depth is roughly 40 inches and the weeds have taken over in the heat and are now dying off. Seventy five percent of the surface is covered with dying weeds, the water color was off, and I'm sure the oxygen level was low. We managed 11 LM which I considered great with the conditions we faced. I tried unsuccessfully to force a frog bite which is normally great. The only thing that'd entice a hit was a single colorado blade Spinnerbait. Overall a great morning. I did get the old man back to his family.
