Jon boat paint

Featured Replies

I am finally ready to paint my 14' jon boat inside and out. What's the best way to do it CHEAP? I bought this thing as a cheap boat for smaller lakes that my bass boat won't fit in and it's becoming a money pit.

I see what you mean man, Im doing the same thing right now. Welcome to the club! The best thing to do is if your factory paint is alright, just sand it with some 150-220 grit sanpaper to rough it up, then clean the boat really well and rinse it VERY good! then dry it and wipe down with like alcohol or whatever you use to thin paint with. Then right before you paint it, wipe it doen with a tack cloth. So far all you have is about 10-15 dollars in supplies. Now, if you wanted to go REALLY cheap, jsut spray it with selfetching primer and spraypaint. But that may not last Sooooooo....

Here is what I am using from Cabelas (keyword "boat paint")

Or you can just order it directly from the company (Duck boat paint):

Its about $45 for a gallon which is more than enough. The good thing about this stuff, it can be rolled on, brushed on, on sprayed on. And it is made for jon boats! Just make sure the boat has been sanded and cleaned really well. Ill be painting mine within a few weeks, so keep watching my thread:
