Smelly Tackle

Featured Replies

So I have a lot of tackle in my old tackle box, but recently I found some dead worms in the box and now all my tackle stinks. I want to transfer my tackle into a new tackle box but I don't want to stink up my new box. Any advice on how to get rid of the smell?

wash your lures in warm water and baking soda. Rinse with fresh warm water and hang to air dry.

Not quite sure how to clean it or what it is, if it's soft plastics I would put them in a separate baggy, same with lures because I have found bass don't hit lures that have been cleaned with bleach wipes/cleaning solutions. I am sure you can clean majority of your stuff, I just think you may need to cover the scent of the lures with something else because I have seen bleach and chlorine play a factor, especially when I fish with a lure I threw in the pool

Soft plastics like worms and creatures just wash them in warm water then lay out to dry on paper towels.

Put them together separately in a zip lock bags by brand, size and color, don’t mix them.

Add your favorite scent as you use them.
