Kayak Fishing Missouri

Featured Replies

Got a new fishing kayak and I am super anxious to take it out. I live on lake of the ozarks so I am definitely going to fish here but my buddy and I want to take a weekend fishing trip somewhere while the weather is still decent. What are the best kayak fishing spots near springfield, MO? Been looking at taneycomo, table rock, stockton and bull shoals.

I’m not from the area, but Neosho smallmouth bass are on my bucket list. They live in the southwest corner of Missouri, and I hear that the rivers they live in are pretty easy to kayak. Again, I don’t even live in MO, but I’m just going off of what I’ve read

The James River has a big following... I haven't fished it above Table Rock though.

The upper sections of Stockton are pretty popular and I at least know of kayak guides up there. Taneycomo is a goofy duck to say the least but can be fun- I know the moyak series has fished out of there multiple times.

Good luck! Let us know how you do

Are you wanting to do a river float or just put in and do some fishing?

There are lots of places for that kind of trip.  The lower end of Stockton has a ramp at Crabtree Cove on the east side and one on the west side at the Stockton Public Use area.  Both places have lots of fishing possibilities and you can stay in protected coves.

Since you are new to this, I want to caution you about getting out in open water where boats are running fast.  You are hard to see.  They can be on you in a matter of seconds.

There are dozens of other places you can go.  Some good maps and planning can help ypu have a good trip.  Good luck and have fun.
