Any opinions on this rod or and suggestions on an alternative?  I am looking for a dedicated punch rod in this price range for next year.  With the sales going on, I thought I should look to buy something now.  

No experience with that exact model, but I love the rest of my Genesis rods. 

 

I do know that rod is super light, comes in under 6 oz. And the handle conveniently comes off so it can fit into your rod locker. 

 

And it's designed by Bub Tosh, who might know a thing or two about punching.

I had no idea it was that "Bub".  Being local to my area, I have heard about him for years.  

No experience with Bub's rod either, but very happy with all my other Irod gen.III rods.

That's one of the best features of the genesis line, most rods were designed for a specific technique by someone who knows exactly what kind of rod is required.
