Beginner Kayak Fish Finder

Featured Replies

Hello friends! Looking into purchasing my first fish finder for my 11ft Yukon Angler and wondering if people can give me some suggestions, pros & cons between Garmin and Lowrance? Trying to keep the unit price under $300 so it’s between the Garmin Vivid 4 or 5 CV and Lowrance HookReveal 5x. Any thoughts or experience with these?

I have a Striker 7CV - upgraded from a Lowrance 4. Other than missing maps, I think the Garmin is an excellent unit...plus you can make your own maps with the unit.

Do the Garmin or a Hummingbird, Lowrance are nice while they work, not so much after that, and it will...

I've got the Garmin Echomap UHD 73SV on my kayak and love it.

That's one of the things on my NEXT year's list...can't afford it for 2022.
