Smallies
On the lake website, they say there was a trout plant on the 4th. To my knowledge, they haven't done this in a long time right? Is this a good sign for an eventual resurgence of what the lake used to be? Thoughts?
Super User WRB Posted January 7, 2022 Super User Share Posted January 7, 2022 Anytime rainbow trout are planted it’s good for the lake. Today there was a dozen or so tournament pre fishers for next week derby were all casting swimbaits and we didn’t see or hear of any bass caught. The reason is the bass are not keyed into trout as prey fish. If the trout plants continue then the bigger bass will start hunting this new food source. I decided to take only mt jig rod and finesse drop shot spinning rod and we caught bass. Tough bite but caught a few decent fish. Smallies
How do you fish a jig, @WRB? Do you fish it offshore? Flipping cover? Do you hop it back, drag it back or swim it? I'd really like to get better at jig fishing, seems so versatile and can be used year round, from what I hear.
