Poga, Toho and O Topwater Help Please!

I'm new to big bass fishing here at Poga.  Over the next few months I would like to try some topwater other than frogs.  Any help you can offer would be great.  I'm thinking Devil horse's and Wopper Ploppers (I own none of either).  If I did get a few of those, what colors/patterns/size would you suggest?  Other suggestions would be great.  Also, what sized rod and line for my thinking?

    MHF rod. Your favorite topwaters will be just fine, but my suggestion is a Megabass PopMax.
