It's normal for all my pfluger reels, factory puts grease in them that gets really hard in colder weather, fighting through it a few times warms it back up, if you get cold water in there it can last a while... one way to prevent it is to get all that grease out and replace it with your favorite grease . I live in southern California and it still happens often so that tells you something because it doesn't get too cold and it still happens on colder winter days, feel bad for people trying to ice fish or trout fish rivers and creeks up north

ARB is gunked up or has too much/too viscous lube. Run them clean, almost dry, with a really light oil in winter. Most reels will do this, some are more prone than others.

Yes, the AR is just over lubricated. Just be careful handling the AR assembly. Pluck it out in one piece and don’t spill the pins out.
