New Ned rod.

Featured Replies

Looking to get a dedicated Ned rod and been wanting to try a major craft. I’ve read they fish on the lighter side so thinking the M is better, but would normally go with a M/L. Anyone have experience with these.

I have not fished these Major Craft models but that 7-3 is probably the ticket. 7-3 is a great length. Get it!

The ML seems like a better choice based on weights alone, but I wish you could see what the action types are. I prefer a slightly faster tip for neds than drop shot.

Can't speak for the rod, never used them.

All my Ned fishing is done with 1/15 - 1/16th heads and have always used ML rods, mine happen to be Fenwicks.

The 7'3 has a removable handle, the 7' does not. I'm not a fan of the removable handle, there is no line marking to make sure the blank and the reel seat are perfectly aligned , you need to eyeball it yourself. I own a 6'6 medium Nanoace,I use it for poppers and in line spinners, if your using 1/15 and 3/32 oz ned heads,  I would go with ML in the Nanoace line.

I have never used those rods but have had a handful of MC rods over the years and they have all be pretty accurately rated, if a little optimistic on the low end sometimes.
