daiwa tatula CT reel cleaning

Featured Replies

hey whats up guys so i kinda fished my (old gen) tatula CT pretty hard this season and i feels like it needs to be grease and lubed up and i was mostly wondering how do you clean the worm gear? and what grease and oil should i use. i was planning on just doing a small clean and lube since it would be my first time working on a reel. any input would be awesome thanks!

Typically, getting to the worm gear isn't a "small cleaning job".

I like cals drag grease for gears and tsi 321 for bearings.

Never done it before?  Here's how I would do it....to the right you'll see a link to "Delaware Valley Tackle."  Click on that...make arrangements, put in box, put in mail.  Wait for your good as new reel to come back to you.  Easy...peasy.

I use Abu Garcia oil and grease.

That's all I've used on my reels for 50+ years...never had an issue...and I've got a couple reels almost that old that still work great - just don't use them because of weight for one, and wrong-sided handle for the other.
