new boat

Featured Replies

just traded my 98 283 f/s for a 2009 stratos 285.seems like a nice boat.It has a150 optimax.it does seem a little slow out of the hole but i only took it out for a quick test drive and am not sure if i had it trimmed right.the f/s was very quick to get on plane but i have had that boat 11 years and know it pretty well.any info other 285 owners might have would be greatly appreciated.

Ahhhh, a new toy.  Good deal!  Hope you have many years of making great memories on her.

Without any details, and just a generalization, sometimes f/s's are propped a little smaller so they can get a skier up and away. Your new boat may seem slower out of the hole, but might have a better top end.

It is probably propped for top end. You sacrifice a little bit of acceleration and hole-shot. Try tucking the motor down more on take off. If that doesn't solve it, maybe you might want to try a different type of prop with less pitch. What are you WOT RPM's with this current prop? That might indicate whether you are over-propped.
