I want a new jig rod for 3/8-1/2 jigs. I was wondering between the two which I should go. I’ve heard the 893 handles a 3/8 better and the 894 handles a 1/2 jig very well. I’m conflicted.

I have the 893 and the 854 (4” shorter).  The 893 would probably be best for the weight ranges you listed.  You could also consider the 873 which is more of a 3.5 power (kind of in the middle).  The 873 and the 893 are two of my favorite G Loomis rods.

In my opinion, the 873CRR is the best Loomis jig and worm rod. It will handle the 3/8 and 1/2 superbly. The 893 is a little underpowered with a 1/2 jig and trailer. The 894c doesn’t cast a 3/8 jig as well the 873. 

Looked at the NRX+ MBR models namely the 843 or 844 they may serve you well otherwise probably 873 or 894
