Looking for a good "all around" reel. Curado K? MGL?

Featured Replies

I have a Curado 70 MGL and really like it.  I tried out a 150 MGL and that reel is just as great or better. It's slightly lighter than the 70 and has 6 break pegs instead of 4.

I love my Daiwas as well. Tatula SV TW103 reels are about as fool proof a casting reel as you can get.  I ordered a Daiwa Alphas SV TW from Japan. Haven't gotten it yet but it's said to be a fantastic reel.

Update:

After fishing with the Curado MGL150 for a short while I quickly realized it did not palm in my hand well(a bit small and would sit too far forward in the reel seat) and I didn't find it to cast baits over 3/8oz very well as it seemed overloaded. Lighter stuff it did great however I needed something more versatile so I decided to return it.

I ended up purchasing the Diawa Tatula SV Tw as a replacement and I dont have any regrets after putting some hours on it. Super easy to dial in swapping baits and throws light stuff as good as the heavier stuff. Though not quite as refined as the Shimano, the Diawa is still very well made. But I will take that tradeoff for Diawas spool and brakes any day. It works amazing
