What is the best way to polish scratches and restore the windshield of a Stratos? There are a few nasty scuffs in it from before I bought it.

Will the windshield still be clear after compounding and glazing with a buffer? I use 3M Marine Compound and Finesse-It 2 Glaze.

What if I lightly wetsanded some of the rough patches before the compound and glaze? How would it look then?

Sand them out and buff it with plastic buffing compound.  I start with 1,200 grit and work up to 2,000 grit.  Then use something like this http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/1PBF7?Pid=search on a cotton wheel.  You might want to practice on a piece of plexiglass before working on the windshield.  It's very easy to make it wavey, or burn and discolor it if not done right.

The windshield they made to replace mine is much better quality than the original.

I like the idea you can pick the thickness & color

I use Mirror Glaze and then follow up with BTS. Looks as good as new!
